Fridays, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm for Four Sessions
Dec 13, Dec 20, Dec 27 and Jan 3rd. $300 Learn the basics of watercolor painting. Paint with an instructor step-by-step to learn the joy of this magical medium. This will be a paint-along course with Paul Clark's YouTube series images. No drawing experience is necessary. You will learn the basics of the materials, beginning color theory, and timing and control of your paints. Come play, have fun with color, and learn to create a successful painting. Please bring the complete supply list on the first day to begin the instruction. Reference images will be supplied. Former students are welcome, but Amanda will use images from previous courses. |

Dec 13, Dec 20, Dec 27 and Jan 3rd. $300 For watercolor artists who are ready to move to their own subject matter but would like the support of an instructor, Amanda will offer guidance on good reference photos, composition, and planning a painting. Short demonstrations and lessons focused on color mixing will be included. This Course Requires the Prerequisite of Beginning Watercolor with Amanda or the instructor's approval. First Monday Evening of the Month
6:30 - 9:00 $75 Work from a live model and learn to demystify portrait and figure painting. Dominique will critique students' work and paint with the group. Students can watch, ask questions, and/or paint along. The main idea is to work from life, learn how to paint what we see accurately, and get a good likeness within a limited time frame. We will alternate between portrait painting and figure painting every other month. The figure will be clothed or nude. Bring your own art supplies. All levels are welcome. Dominique will teach and demonstrate in Oil, but all mediums are welcome. |

Needle-Felted Holiday OrnamentsSaturday, December 14th
1:00 - 3:00 pm $75 Transform fluffy wool into charming holiday ornaments using only a special barbed needle and your own creativity! We will sculpt the wool into ornament forms and decorate the ornaments with festive designs. Use a suggested design from the provided stencils or make your own design. Embrace the natural charm of a pure wool ornament, or add some holiday bling with sparkle fibers. A $15 materials fee (included in the tuition) covers all supplies, including a basic needle-felting kit to take along and use to make more ornaments at home. Class is best suited for ages 12+ Ages 10--11: ok with accompanying adult. Please complete a registration for each person. |
Embroidery Botanical CyanotypeSaturday, January 4th
2:00 - 4:00 pm $60 Embroider your blue era. Cyanotyping is one of the earliest photographic processes that uses sunlight to capture an image and create a blueprint. This concept inspired my Cyanotype Botanicals embroidery design. Even if it's not sunny, you can still enjoy a gorgeous blue botanical design. Join in creating a faux cyanotype! In this beginner-friendly hand embroidery workshop with author and fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ, you'll learn the basics of hand embroidery and start creating a blue botanical design. This workshop will cover beginner embroidery basics and stitches such as the split back stitch, leaf stitch, detached chain stitch, and French knot. The class is best suited for ages 12+. No prior embroidery experience is needed, and all skill levels are welcome. |
Gnome Building WorkshopSunday, January 5th and 12th
1:00 - 3:00 pm $125 Day 1: Gnome Construction Join us for an afternoon of whimsical fun as we build our own adorable gnomes! This hands-on workshop is perfect for all ages, from young children to adults. We'll provide all the necessary materials, including clay and various decorative elements. Learn basic sculpting techniques as you shape your gnome's body, head, and beard. Get creative with your design and add unique touches to make your gnome truly special. Your creations will be fired. Then: Day 2: Gnome Painting Let's bring our gnomes to life with a splash of color! Come back two weeks later to paint our creations. Choose from a variety of paints and brushes to personalize your gnome. Experiment with different colors, patterns, and textures to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Ages 10 + |
Encaustic Monotype and Mixed Media WorkshopSaturday, January 25th, 2025
10:00 am to 4:00 pm $190 The art of encaustic painting is millennia old, but the freshness that can be achieved in this medium is genuinely contemporary. We will work with hot bee’s wax, damar resin, and pigment on an anodized aluminum plate and transfer those images to paper to create one-of-a-kind encaustic prints. Encaustic is a non-toxic medium that provides unparalleled luminosity and depth of color. The resulting prints on paper can be layered onto an existing encaustic painting or displayed independently. We will use semi-transparent Sumi rice paper to print on, as well as Encaustiflex flexible fabric paper and every color imaginable. Experienced encaustic artist and printmaker Dana Harris Seeger will show students the process from start to finish, including how to incorporate mixed media into their prints. Students will be able to create a series of prints to take home. |

Embroidery Photo FrameSaturday, March 22nd
2:00 - 4:00 pm $60 Want to create an embroidered photo frame keepsake? Create a personalized hand-stitched frame to remember a special memory, location, event, and more. This two-hour hands-on class with Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will get you started with hand embroidering a photo frame. Each person will be able to choose from a variety of nature-inspired patterns and thread colors to create a personalized project. The class will cover hand embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, split back stitch, stem stitch, and French knot. Frame fits up to a 4x3 photo best. *Photo is an example of what can be created with this class. Designs will vary* Ages 13+. |
Colorful Clouds Shoe EmbroiderySaturday, April 12th
2:00 - 4:00 pm $75 Do your shoes need some pizazz? Want to jazz them up with embroidery? Learn how to embroider your canvas shoes with colorful clouds. You can join author and fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on, two-hour shoe embroidery workshop. In this class, you’ll learn how to start with shoe embroidery, transfer your design onto shoes, prep your thread, and what tools and stitches help embroider shoes. During the workshop, you can choose your own color assortment to create a unique, colorful cloud design, such as the satin stitch, long and short satin stitch, and stem stitch. Ages 13+ You must bring a pair of canvas shoes to class to embroider. Lace-up shoes are recommended. All other materials are provided. |

$225 How do we develop our figure drawings to convey the illusion of weight, action, and three-dimensional reality? In this workshop, we will build on a dynamic gestural foundation and explore how to construct the figure dimensionally from simple, versatile volumes that will give our drawings presence and structure. We will then study how light reveals form and how each part of the figure flows into the next, guided by the dynamics of action and the orchestration of shape design. |
This is one of the best figure-drawing workshops I have ever attended. Brenno's approach makes capturing the figure easier than I expected.
