Expressive Portrait and Still Life with Henry Stinson October 4th, 5th and 6th

Dec 13, Dec 20, Dec 27 and Jan 3rd. $300 Learn the basics of watercolor painting. Paint with an instructor step-by-step to learn the joy of this magical medium. This will be a paint-along course with Paul Clark's YouTube series images. No drawing experience is necessary. You will learn the basics of the materials, beginning color theory, and timing and control of your paints. Come play, have fun with color, and learn to create a successful painting. Please bring the complete supply list on the first day to begin the instruction. Reference images will be supplied. Former students are welcome, but Amanda will use images from previous courses. |

Dec 13, Dec 20, Dec 27 and Jan 3rd. $300 For watercolor artists who are ready to move to their own subject matter but would like the support of an instructor, Amanda will offer guidance on good reference photos, composition, and planning a painting. Short demonstrations and lessons focused on color mixing will be included. This Course Requires the Prerequisite of Beginning Watercolor with Amanda or the instructor's approval. Gesture, Rhythm, and Flow in Figure Drawing: the 5-minute pose

How do we start a drawing in a way that captures the original freshness and excitement of the pose? How do we ensure that we maintain the driving momentum as we build on a (hopefully) strong start? Constructive Figure Drawing: Structure, Light, and Design
Saturday, October 26th, 9:30am-5pm
$225 How do we develop our figure drawings to convey the illusion of weight, action, and three-dimensional reality? In this workshop, we will build on a dynamic gestural foundation and explore how to construct the figure dimensionally from simple, versatile volumes that will give our drawings presence and structure. We will then study how light reveals form and how each part of the figure flows into the next, guided by the dynamics of action and the orchestration of shape design. |
First Monday Evening of the Month, Oil Painting
6:30 - 9:30 $75 Work from a live model and learn to demystify portrait and figure painting. Dominique will critique students' work and paint with the group. Students can watch, ask questions, and/or paint along. The main idea is to work from life, learn how to paint what we see accurately and get a good likeness within a limited time frame. We will alternate between portrait painting and figure painting every other month. The figure will be clothed or nude. Bring your own art supplies. Dominique will work in oil, but all mediums are welcome. All levels are welcome. |

Clothing EmbroiderySaturday, September 28th,
2:00 - 4:00 pm $60 Cover up stains and small holes in your clothing with hand embroidery. Join fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on workshop. Bring a garment to embroider, and we’ll provide you with playful, nature-inspired sample designs to stitch. This class will cover the helpful dos and don’ts of embroidering garments and the stitches best suited for each garment and pattern. Each attendee will also receive an embroidery hoop, thread, needle, and stabilizer to get started. This workshop is beginner-friendly and no prior embroidery experience is required. |

Indigo DyeingSaturday, November 2nd
2:00 - 4:00 pm $60 Explore the magic of indigo dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs with indigo dye. You’ll love seeing the dye change colors and your designs come to life! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and is also encouraged to bring additional materials to dye. This class can get messy, so please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dye on. If you are bringing additional items to dye, please nothing larger than 3ft x3ft. Ages 16+ |
Glass Holiday Trees WorkshopSaturday, November 23rd
1:00 - 3:30 pm $95 Gather your friends and/or family for a fun workshop creating Glass Fused Tree votive candle holders and glass ornaments. Glass fusing is a technique in which pieces of Glass are cut, arranged, and melted together in a kiln to form a new piece. You can choose from a variety of glass colors and shapes to design your own festive candle holders. Get ready for a hands-on experience! You'll learn how to safely handle and cut glass, use different tools and materials, and fire your pieces in the kiln. By the end of the workshop, you'll have a beautiful glass fused Christmas tree votive candle holder to decorate your home or give as a unique gift. |
Gelli Print Painting CollageSaturday, November 16th, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
$160 Combine printmaking and collage in this multi-media workshop with artist Dana Harris Seeger. In the first part of the workshop, students will discover the fun and spontaneity of Gelli Plate printing. The instructor will cover basic techniques for those who have never printed before, so beginners are welcome! After printing our textures and images using acrylic paint on the flexible Gelli plates, we will then move to cutting out shapes to create either an abstract or recognizable image. Design, composition, color, and more will be covered. |

Encaustic Monotype and Mixed Media WorkshopSaturday, January 25th, 2025
10:00 am to 4:00 pm $190 The art of encaustic painting is millennia old, but the freshness that can be achieved in this medium is genuinely contemporary. We will work with hot bee’s wax, damar resin, and pigment on an anodized aluminum plate and transfer those images to paper to create one-of-a-kind encaustic prints. Encaustic is a non-toxic medium that provides unparalleled luminosity and depth of color. The resulting prints on paper can be layered onto an existing encaustic painting or displayed independently. We will use semi-transparent Sumi rice paper to print on, as well as Encaustiflex flexible fabric paper and every color imaginable. Experienced encaustic artist and printmaker Dana Harris Seeger will show students the process from start to finish, including how to incorporate mixed media into their prints. Students will be able to create a series of prints to take home. |
